David is responsible for equity research and portfolio management. He joined BMO Global Asset Management in 2012.
Previously, David worked in various roles at First Manhattan Consulting in risk management and capital markets, where he was responsible for managing consultant teams, building M&A and financial forecast models, and making recommendations to management on capital structures and instruments.
David holds an M.B.A. with a dual concentration in analytic finance and economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He holds a B.A. in economics and psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, David is a CFA® charterholder.
Jason Hans is a Director and Portfolio Manager since 2008 and is responsible for equity portfolio management and research, with a primary focus on large cap strategies. Prior to joining the firm, he was the Managing Director, Head of Research for Quantitative Services Group.
Jason earned an MBA in Finance from Notre Dame and a B.S. in Business from Miami University. In addition, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Jay is responsible for equity portfolio management and research. He joined the company in 2010.
Previously, Jay worked as a quantitative investment analyst at Strategic Investment Group. He began his investment experience in 2006.
He holds an M.B.A. with High Honors from the University of Chicago, concentrating in analytic finance, econometrics and statistics. He also holds a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, concentrating in finance. In addition, Jay is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Chicago and the Chicago Quantitative Alliance.
Peter is the Head of Canadian Fundamental Fixed Income overseeing the portfolio management, credit research and trading functions for all fundamental Canadian fixed income strategies. Peter has extensive financial markets experience, he joined BMO's US asset management division in 1994 as a portfolio manager in credit and floating rate strategies. Previously, he was on the BMO Capital Markets foreign exchange and derivatives trading desk. He also worked in fixed income and equity sales at Lehman Brothers. In the U.S., Peter also manages the Taxable Fixed Income Team, overseeing assets in short-duration taxable bond funds, stable value, securities lending, collateralized loan products, offshore funds and separately managed accounts. Peter also serves on the firm's Investment Committee, the Risk Committee and the New Business Committee. He holds an M.B.A. in finance from DePaul University and a B.A. in finance from Loras College.
Ariel is responsible for equity portfolio management and research. She joined the company in 2018. Ariel began her career in the investment industry in 2005. Prior to joining BMO, she was a quantitative researcher at RBC Global Asset Management, where she designed quantitative investment strategies. Prior to that, she was an associate portfolio manager for the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and an investment analyst for the Ontario Teachers? Pension Plan. She holds a Master of Mathematical Finance and a Global Professional Master of Laws from University of Toronto. Ariel also has a M.A. in economics from Simon Fraser University and a B.B.A. in finance from Nankai University. In addition, she is a CFA charterholder and a Certified Financial Risk Manager.
Earl Davis joined BMO GAM in 2020 and brings over 25 years of fixed income experience. Prior to joining BMO GAM, Earl led an investment division responsible for managing over $85 billion of fixed income assets at a best-in-class pension organization where he had oversight over the provincial, nominal, inflation and global bond market portfolios. Notably, he worked closely with the risk management division to rewrite the repo, leverage and liquidity policies and procedures following the GFC.
Earl currently sits on the FSRA Pension Sector Technical Advisory Committee where he participates in the development of FSRA guidance by providing advice on technical issues and proposed legislation and regulations within Canada. He is a CFA charter holder and has an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Gordon Rumble is a Portfolio Manager on the Fundamental Fixed Income team at BMO GAM Toronto with a focus on both investment grade and high yield corporate bonds. He has been with the team for over five years in positions of increasing responsibility following the completion of a highly competitive rotational program. In addition to his domestic corporate expertise, he also has experience in global corporate securities, emerging market sovereign debt (both hard and local currency), foreign exchange and fixed income derivatives. Gordon holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen's University and is a CFA Charterholder.
James joined BMO Asset Management Inc. in March 2011 on the Quantitative line of funds. His 11 years of experience have focused on programming, quantitative analysis, and quantitative portfolio management. Most recently James was a Partner and Portfolio Manager at an investment fund he co-launched in 2008. Prior to this, he spent six years at Legg Mason as a quantitative analyst and portfolio manager. James is a CFA charterholder and has both a Bachelors and Masters of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He has also been registered with the OSC as a Portfolio Manager, Commodity Trading Manager, and Exempt Market Dealer.
Jennifer joined BMO Asset Management Inc. in September 2015 as an equity analyst with a focus on ESG, industrials, large cap energy and materials (non-mining). Jennifer spent a decade at a Canadian Bank with experience in Investment Banking, Research and Institutional Sales. In addition she has a further 7 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant at one of the big four accounting firms and teaching undergraduate finance at a Canadian University. Jennifer has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and is a CFA Charterholder, Chartered Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant.
Lutz joined BMO Asset Management in March 2012 as Co-Portfolio Manager for the Dividend strategy. Prior to this Lutz was the Portfolio Manager for the Canadian Conservative Equity and Diversified Yield strategies at BMO Harris Investment Management. Lutz began his career in 1994 working for a large brokerage firm in Toronto as a Research Associate and later as an Institutional Sales Associate in London, England. He was also able to round out his sell-side experience by working briefly in the investment banking division of another Toronto brokerage firm. Lutz holds a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business and is a CFA charterholder. He is a member of the Toronto CFA Society and the CFA Institute.
Philip joined BMO Asset Management Inc. in March 2012 and brings with him over 11 years' experience in the investment industry. Philip is a member of the large cap portfolio management team at BMO AM responsible for the firm's Canadian dividend and income strategies. Previously, he worked as both an analyst and portfolio manager at BMO Harris Investment Management. A graduate from the University of Toronto, Philip holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, received his Master of Finance from the Rotman School of Business and is a CFA charterholder.
Robert Armstrong has over 15 years of experience in the investment industry. He currently serves as Vice President, Associate Portfolio Manager & Investment Strategist, Multi-Asset Solutions. He develops a strategic asset allocation outlook and tactical investment ideas to be implemented in the portfolio construction of the firm’s multi-asset solutions.
Robert has a diverse investment industry background and most recently held the position of Vice President, Head of Managed Solutions. Prior to BMO, he served in various investment director roles at an independent fund company. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from Laurentian University; and a Master of Science, International Securities, Investments and Banking, from University of Reading. He is a CFA charterholder. Robert is a strong advocate for the investor and is a frequent voice in the media and investment conferences.
Vice President, Investment Strategist & Portfolio Manager
Steve has 20 years' experience in the investment industry, and currently serves as an investment strategist, focussing primarily on the asset allocation of BMO AM's fund of fund solutions. Steve has had senior roles in sales and product development, most recently as Vice President, Equity Strategies with BMO Investments Inc., where he was responsible for the oversight of the bank's equity mutual funds, including manager due diligence, performance analysis and market commentary. Steve holds an Honours BA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, and is a CFA charterholder.
Tyler is a Senior Portfolio Manager with BMO Asset Management Inc.'s Canadian fundamental equity team. He joined BMO Asset Management in 2007 as an analyst, covering multiple sectors with a focus on small capitalization equities and became a portfolio manager on the Canadian small cap team in 2009 assuming lead portfolio manager responsibility in 2012. Tyler has been the lead portfolio manager on all-cap Canadian equity strategies since inception in 2015. He participates in the team based fundamental stock reviews which apply across portfolios. Tyler began his career in the industry in 2001 at a global financial institution, primarily in equity research. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen's University and is a CFA charterholder.
Vishang joined BMO Asset Management in August 2020 as a Portfolio Manager responsible for both investment grade and high yield corporate bonds. He has over 13 years of investment experience, most recently as an Associate Portfolio Manager, High Yield at CIBC Asset Management, where he spent 5 years. At CIBC, he was responsible for strategy, trading and credit research. Before joining CIBC, Vishang was at AGF Management Ltd. for over 8 years, starting as an analyst in Portfolio Analytics and ending as a Fixed Income Credit Analyst for his last 5 years. During his career, he has covered a variety of sectors in investment grade, high yield, money market and emerging markets corporate credit. Vishang is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Master of Finance from Rotman School of Management.
Brian, Chief Investment Strategist and leader of the Investment Strategy Group, provides strategic investment and portfolio management advice to both institutional and private clients. Brian’s group produces several investment strategy publications on a regular basis, with particular focus on both the U.S. and Canadian equity markets.
In his more than 30 years in the investment industry, Brian has held various senior strategy and research roles, including positions at Oppenheimer & Company, Merrill Lynch, and Piper Jaffray.
Brian is frequently quoted in the financial press, including regular appearances on CNBC, Bloomberg, and BNN. Renowned for his accuracy as a strategist, Brian's 2016 forecast for the Canadian stock market fell within 13 points, and missed by merely 63 points in 2019. For the U.S. stock market, his 2014 forecast was within 9 points, while his 2012 forecast was out by an incredible single point.
Brian has been ranked as a 'Top Gun' analyst by Brendan Woods since 2016. He holds a B.Sc. degree from St. Cloud State University and splits his time between the BMO offices in New York and Toronto.
Frank is responsible for the firm’s investment policy and strategy and manages client portfolios. As Head of Trading, he oversees trading and broker relationship management. He joined the team in 2001. Frank holds an M.S. in finance from Florida International University and a B.S. in economics and finance from Barry University. He was awarded the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation in 2011.
Ronald is a portfolio manager for the BMO Fixed Income high yield strategy and the Head of Research. In his role as portfolio manager, Ronald is responsible for setting portfolio strategy and overseeing implementation across high yield portfolios. In addition, he manages the research team. He began his career in the investment industry in 2004. Ronald holds an M.B.A. from the University of Miami and a B.B.A. in finance from the University of Notre Dame. In addition, he is a CFA® charterholder.
Scott is Co-Head U.S. Fixed income. In this role, his primary responsibility is leading the application of the investment process across the team’s strategies. Utilizing a team-based approach to portfolio management, he works alongside the rest of the portfolio managers on the portfolio construction of client accounts. He joined BMO in 2007 and served as a research analyst prior to joining the portfolio management team in 2011, and during that time, has served as member of the team’s management and investment committees. Previously, Scott held positions at Merrill Lynch and other boutique investment firms. He began his career in the investment industry in 2003. Scott holds an M.B.A. from the University of Miami and a B.A. in international business from Stetson University. In addition, he is a CFA charterholder.
June Lui, CFA
June joined F&C in 2006. Prior to this she was an Investment Services Manager in Hang Seng Bank in Hong Kong and before that she worked for Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) for 4 years. She holds an MBA from the Hong Kong University and has an Honours Degree in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. June is a CFA Charterholder.
Partner and Chief Investment Officer, Larry Berman is a Co-Founder of ETF Capital Management (www.etfcm.com) and the Independent Investor Institute (www.educatedtrader.com). Larry is well known as the host of Berman's Call on The Business News Network (BNN). His qualifications and nearly 30 years of industry experience are extensive. Larry is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT), a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter-holder, a US registered Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA), and holds a BA in Economics from York University.
Larry began his career as a Toronto based investment advisor. Shortly thereafter, he completed a technical internship in New York with the Market Technicians Association (www.mta.org) in 1994, where he studied the techniques of many top Wall Street technicians.
Prior to founding ETF Capital Management, Larry was Chief Technical Strategist and Managing Director for CIBC World Markets - where he was ranked as one of Canada's "Top 3 Analysts" including #1 in fixed-income according to Brendan Wood institutional investor surveys. Larry was also a senior technical analyst for Thomson IFR in Boston and senior technical analyst and trader for Marleau, LemireFutures in Toronto.
Larry is the primary author of the textbook for the technical analysis course offered by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), which is the basis of education for technical analysis in Canada. Larry is past President of the Canadian Society of Technical Analysts (www.csta.org), past Vice-Chairman (Americas) of the International Federation of Technical Analysts (www.ifta.org), and past President of the Market Technicians Association - where he is currently the subject matter expert for behavioural finance (www.mta.org) - where he is currently the subject matter expert for behavioural finance.
Larry is passionate about educating investors and giving back to the community. He is an active supporter of brain research at the Baycrest Foundation, and sits on the investment committee for the Children's Aid Foundation, where he established the Berman Family Scholarship to help adopted youths in financial need to fund a post-secondary education. As a sought after speaker, Larry lectures on global macro-economics, behavioural finance, and technical analysis. Each week on BNN's Berman's Call, Canadians look to Larry Berman to deliver insights about market performance - with a focus on education, asset allocation, and prudent risk management.
Jamie Jenkins is Head of the Responsible Global Equities team. Jamie joined the firm in 2000 and is the lead manager of the F&C Responsible Global Equity Strategy. Prior to this, Jamie worked at Hill Samuel Asset Management as a Japanese Equities Fund Manager. He holds an MA in History from the University of Edinburgh, has IMC and IIMR qualifications and is a member of the CFA Society of the UK.
Nick Henderson, Director, Portfolio Manager
Nick Henderson is a Portfolio Manager within the Global Equities team. He is Lead Portfolio Manager on the Sustainable Opportunities Global Equity Fund and Alternate Portfolio Manager of the BMO SDG Engagement Global Equity Fund. He joined both the firm and the team in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Nick graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Bristol and is a CFA Charterholder.
Paul Niven is Managing Director and Head of Multi-Asset Portfolio Management. He is also Fund Manager for the Foreign and Colonial Investment Trust. Paul joined the firm in 1996 and has worked in Asset Allocation and Investment Strategy since 1999, after undertaking a fund management position in Pacific Basin Equities. Paul has had responsibility for the management of Multi-Asset mandates within the group since 2002 (including large portfolios for insurance clients) and is Chair of the Investment Policy Group. He is responsible for strategic and tactical portfolio construction as well as manager selection across a variety of institutional mandates. Paul graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Economics, obtained an MPhil in Finance, and is a member of the UK CFA Institute.
Co-Head of Emerging Markets Debt
Philip is Co-Head of the Emerging Markets Debt team His experience covering the region stretches back to his first role as a graduate trainee with the company in 2006, although in the interim he spent four years at First State Investments also covering Central and Eastern Europe. Philip has a Master’s level degree from the prestigious St Gallen university in Switzerland and is a CFA charterholder.
Valentina is Co-Head of the Emerging Markets Debt team. She joined the company in 2019 from Bank Vontobel AG in Zurich where she was an executive director and senior portfolio manager responsible for a range of EM strategies, including leading the EM local currency and EM blend strategies. Prior to this Valentina spent 9 years at Aviva Investors as Head of Emerging Markets Local Currency. Valentina holds an MSc in Economics for Development from University of Oxford and a First Class BSc in Economics, Politics and International Relations from University of Warwick. Valentina is both a CFA and CAIA charterholder.
Sam Baldwin is Portfolio Manager, Canadian Equity for Guardian Capital LP (GCLP). He joined GCLP in 2007 as portfolio manager on the systematic strategies team. In 2013 he transitioned into Guardian's Canadian Equity team, focusing on the large-cap Core Canadian equities strategies.
His career in the financial services industry began in 1999 when he joined Invesco Trimark as an Associate, Strategy and Communications. Sam subsequently assumed the role of Project Manager, Office of the CEO, in the Taiwan office of Invesco. This role was followed by Fund Manager and Product Director, Asian Equities with Invesco Perpetual in the UK, subsequent to which he joined Guardian.
Sam graduated from University of British Columbia with a BA (Honours) and is a CFA® charterholder.
Kenneth Lowe is a Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining Matthews International Capital Management in 2010, he was an Investment Manager on the Asia and Global Emerging Market Equities Team at Martin Currie Investment Management in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Kenneth received an M.A. in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Glasgow. He is a CFA charterholder.
Robert Horrocks is a Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager since 2008. Previously, Robert was Head of Research at Mirae Asset Management in Hong Kong. From 2003 to 2006, Robert served as Chief Investment Officer for Everbright Pramerica in China, establishing its quantitative investment process. He started his career as a Research Analyst with WI Carr Securities in Hong Kong before moving on to spend eight years working in several different Asian jurisdictions for Schroders, including stints as Country General Manager in Taiwan, Deputy Chief Investment Officer in Korea and Designated Chief Investment Officer in Shanghai.
Robert earned his PhD in Chinese Economic History from Leeds University in the United Kingdom, and is fluent in Mandarin.
